I'm writing a blog!

Ekk ok so I thought I’d jump in head first and start a blog to accompany my jewellery, because you know why not?

So I started the LBD journey way back in 2016, when I was in a job that was crushing my creativity and everything else, it wasn’t a bad job but sadly it was not the job for me. So I turned to art as a way of taking back control and to calm myself, I found that fluid art was the perfect recipe. I explored different techniques and paints to use, but before I knew it I was running out of space!

I decided that I would try selling my work, because nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. I found there was a market for canvases and art, but much like other markets, there was so many other artists doing the same thing and I couldn’t separate myself from them. I knew I had to make a change if I wanted to succeed.

I always had a fascination with jewellery and how is was made, so it didn’t take long for me to move my fluid art from a canvas to earrings. I became obsessed with finessing my technique to create new and unique designs, they were chunky and fabulous, I would source wood pieces to pour on and then seal the paint with resin.

Can you see where I’m going with this?

Within a year I started playing with resin for jewellery, I would use glitter and pigments to make earrings, but this didn’t feel like me. I turned to the fountain of knowledge that is Instagram and explored the incredibly diverse world of resin to find that style that fit, and at the start of 2020 I found it.

I’ve always loved nature and spent as much of my time as I could in the woods, at the beach or in a field, so naturally I headed full speed into the floral resin jewellery world. There have been a lot of ups and downs along the way… air bubbles are the bane of my life but it’s such a fascinating and beautiful medium that I don’t mind too much.

In the time since I started floral resin I have continued to develop my style to reach where I am now with the delicate and dainty jewellery, but there’s still so much further I can take it, and I hope you all come along for the ride!

I’m going to try really hard to keep this blog going and share with you what I’ve learnt so far and maybe even some other things along the way.
